Dance Classes - General FAQs
What age can my child start dance classes?
We welcome dancers from age 2.5 in our Pre-School Ballet classes.
Do we need to buy uniform straight away?
New students can wear comfortable clothes at shoes (where appropriate) for their trial. Weโll provide uniform information after your child settles in.
Can my child try a class before committing?
Yes! We offer free trial classes so your child can experience the school before signing up.
What dance styles do you offer?
We offer Ballet, Tap, Modern, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Acro and Jazz Technique. Pointe is available to older students by invitation.
Do you offer dance exams or performance opportunities?
Yes, we follow the ISTD syllabus and offer optional exams, shows, competitions and community performance opportunities.
Do you have a competition team?
Yes, Maidstone Dance Studios has a dedicated Competition Squad. Selected dancers train in multiple styles and take part in local and regional competitions throughout the year.
How can my child join the squad?
Entry is by audition and held at the end of the Summer term each year. If your child is interested, please speak to Zoe or their teacher for more information.
Practical Information FAQs
Where is the studio located?
Weโre based in Maidstone, Kent, with our main purpose built studios in Brunswick Street East. We also have branch schools in Bearsted, Allington, Coxheath and Madginford.
What should my child bring to class?
Just a named water bottle, uniform or appropriate comfy clothing and any required dance shoes.
How do I register or book a trial class?
Simply head to our Contact Us page or contact us directly and weโll help you get started.
Can I stay and watch the class?
Parents/Guardians are very welcome to watch trial sessions, but once new dancers are settled we find they are able to concentrate better while their grown ups wait in the waiting areas.

How do payments and fees work?
Classes are paid in advance. Youโll receive an invoice at the start of each term with details on how to pay.
Do you hold watching sessions?
Yes, at the end of each term we invite grown ups in to see the progress their dancers have made.
